My grandmother passed away a few years ago and left boxes and boxes of journals, pictures, stories, newspaper clippings etc. I was talking to my mom on the phone after she had spent several hours going through my grandmother's memories. She wondered if I would help her put together a tribute book for my grandmother. I am excited for the challenge, and I think this book will be fun for my family and me to help us get to know more about our great grandmother, grandmother and mother a little better.
The key to creating this book is choosing the right memories that pay tribute to this special person in a nutshell. In order to avoid being overwhelmed, it will help to have a plan. Here are a few suggestions I thought of:
Maybe you could think of a handful of words that describe the person you are paying tribute to, and create pages around these description words.
You could also do a page on things like traditions they loved, opinions they expressed, hobbies they had, or causes they fought for.
Try to find evidence in letters, cards, journals pictures etc. to help display these special things you want to display.
Also, don't worry about putting it all into chronological order. There are years of memories so don't try to cover them all in this book. Remember, this is not a life history book it is a tribute book.
